We Need Your Help!

For the past two years KU NALSA has held “Toy Drive Tuesdays” in November. KU NALSA members sold coffee and baked goods to raise funds to buy toys, hats, gloves, toothbrushes, and toothpaste for children participating in Haskell Indian Nations University’s Adopt a Haskell Rascal program. With the help of the KU Law community, we were able to raise over $400 each year to "adopt" children. Unfortunately, due to H1N1 concerns we will not be allowed to hold coffee sales this year. In light of this, we have set up a button on our website for online donations. Although you will not get a hot coffee this year, you can still get that warm feeling by donating and knowing that you have helped. We are asking for donations of $2, the same price at which a cup of coffee would have been sold, but will accept any amount you are able to give. Donations will be accepted until December 4th. Hopefully, with your help we can still make the holidays a little brighter for some Haskell Rascals.

November is National American Indian Heritage Month

In 1990, President George Bush signed a resolution declaring November National American Indian Heritage Month. To promote awareness of National American Indian Heritage Month, NALSA has set up displays throughout the law school. “Faces of Indian County” and “Cases of Indian Country” can be seen in the SBA display case in the informal commons. Native American literature is displayed in the library across from the reference desk.

A big thank you to Joe Osborn (2L) for organizing this year's heritage month displays!
