NALSA and KU Law Co-Host the Annual Diversity Banquet With Record Breaking Results!

KU NALSA undertook the responsibility of planning the annual Diversity in Law Banquet, put on by the law school each spring. This year, a record-setting 220 guests filled Maceli's, in downtown Lawrence, for a celebration of KU Law diversity programs.

More than 60 students who attended the banquet represented many KU Law organizations such as the BLSA, HALSA, ALSA, the Muslim Law Student Association, the Student Bar Association, OUTlaws & Allies, and the Non-Traditional Student Association. The remaining guests were alumni, local bar associations, firms, judges, tribal council members and gaming commissioners, faculty, staff and friends of the law school.

Guests were able to mingle, enjoy a delicious dinner and hear key note speaker, Sarah Deer (KU Law graduate '01 and KU NALSA alumna) who spoke on diversity in the modern age.

All proceeds from the banquet were directed towards the Diversity Scholarship Fund for KU Law students. This year, the banquet raised more money for scholarships than it ever has before. The banquet continues to grow each year, but this year has been quite an accomplishment for the NALSA members and KU Law administration who planned the huge event. We hope that even more people will be able to attend next year.
